Cultural Center Hosts Pat and Donna Surface Concert
The Cultural Center in New York Mills hosts regional sign language performer, Donna Surface, and her music man husband, Pat, on Saturday, October 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Pat and Donna are currently performing their popular show, Remember When, which features hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s woven with riveting back-stories, relatable and hysterical husband-wife banter al la Sonny and Cher, and Donna’s dramatic interpretation in Performance Sign Language. The show includes interactive segments like “Name That Tune” with prizes, and sign-alongs. All this topped off with Donna’s 60s dancing, including her signature Tina Turner moves to Pat’s “Proud Mary.”
Pat became a full-time touring artist in 1987, showcasing nationally for NACA (National Association for Campus Activities) and performing at colleges around the country. He pioneered Family Programming on college and university campuses, and has worked with several Community Education organizations on early childhood/family programming. Pat and Donna were also key-note presenters and performers at the National Marriage Encounter Conference at St. John’s University.
Now Pat owns the international, award-winning record label, Spiritwood of the Boundary Wates based in Ely, MN. Pat sings and plays his hand-built LaPlant guitars, sometimes with his award-winning band, the Boundary Water Boys. Pat has produced and recorded with Grammy Award-winning artists, and won a Telly Award for his DVD of The Boundary Waters, Spirit of the Wilderness.
Pat and Donna feel blessed to share beautiful spots on a lake in Ely, MN and near the Gulf in South Venice, FL with their son, Trevor.
Their Remember When show benefits The Spiritwood Forget Me Not Foundation which battles Alzheimer’s disease.
