Kaddatz Galleries Hosts Lecture on Becoming A Potter
Kaddatz Galleries hosts lecture on becoming a potter
The Kaddatz Galleries will continue its Summer Lecture Series at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 27 with artist and educator Gaylen Peterson.
Peterson, founder of Pine Hill Pottery, will talk about how to establish a working pottery business with a close look at aesthetics, studio and business structure.
“One can never estimate how a single conversation might change the course of life and help to focus those latent dreams within us,” Peterson said. His own venture into becoming a potter began when teacher Jim Bjork at M-State in Fergus Falls suggested he take a series of independent courses with him.
Peterson’s lecture is titled, “Becoming a Potter Through Resource and Influence: An Investigation into Best Practices and Resources for the Contemporary Potter.” It will take place in The Kaddatz’s StudioK, with a $5 suggested donation.
Next month’s lecture at 5:30 p.m. August 10, is titled, “Clicks: Photography Before and After the Digital Revolution” with artist Gary Wahl.
The Kaddatz Galleries’ mission is to foster visual arts education and appreciation, and to maintain a gallery that celebrates the work of area artists and honors the legacy of Charles Beck.
