Kaddatz Galleries Announces Graffiti Art Summer Camp
Kaddatz Galleries is hosting a week-long Graffiti Arts Summer Camp June 18 through 22. Minneapolis-based SPRAYFINGER will be conducting the camp, which is open to youth ages 11 to 18 years. The mural will be unveiled at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 23. A reception for the students and an exhibition of their work will be hosted at the Kaddatz Galleries from 3 to 6 p.m. that same day.
“The Graffiti Arts Summer Camp is the culmination of a six-month program the Kaddatz started earlier this year with SPRAYFINGER and its founder and artist, Peyton Scott Russell,” said Amanda Cross, Education Coordinator of the Kaddatz Galleries. “A lot of interest has been generated by workshops done to date. We look forward to building upon current interest with the camp, mural and related gallery events.” The Graffiti Arts Summer Camp offers youth from Fergus Falls and the surrounding area an opportunity to learn about graffiti as an art form and includes a variety of art-making techniques, historical content, civic engagement, and social interaction.
Fostering visual arts education and appreciation is a core component of the Kaddatz Galleries’ mission. During the Gallery’s nine years, it has established, nurtured, and grown strong educational programming and developed a reputation for providing valuable arts experiences in the region. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Culture Heritage fund.
