Welcoming communities assessment results to be shared Wednesday, January 24
On Wednesday, January 24th from 4:30-6:30p.m., the University of Minnesota Extension will share the results from the Welcoming Communities Assessment which was administered during November and December 2023. The meeting will be at the NYM City Hall Ballroom, hosted by Perham Health, and is open to the public. Food will be provided and all are welcome!
We will use the assessment results to better understand out strengths and areas of opportunity as a community. We will use our 2024 session to create action plans to be more welcoming in the future.
In early 2023, the City of New York Mills received a $10,000 grant from Otter Tail Lakes Country Association to embark on a Welcoming Communities Assessment and Plan. A steering committee (led by NYM FWD) and learning cohort are currently working through the program and assessment throughout 2023 and into 2024. The eight-month program required participation from seven sectors of the community: schools, health care, law enforcement, business, local government, nonprofit organizations, and religious organizations.
Everyone who lives and works in New York Mills is invited to be part of Welcoming Communities! Further program details can be found online here: New York Mills Welcoming Communities
