And The Walleye Just Keep Coming In…
Nice August walleye just keep coming and coming in Otter Tail Lakes Country!
I love these large fish photos with in the morning! ย The glow from the sun-rise really lights up the fish!
Fishing, like the weather lately, has been very nice. ย Crappie, sunfish, large and smallmouth bass, and walleye keep on keeping on. Try and fish weed tops near deep edges for crappieโcast Beetle Spins, and jigs tipped with Gulp or Power bait. For large sunfish, I like fishing deep weed edges, as opposed to fishing in weeds and shallow water. The deeper sunfish seem to run consistently larger, and as bonuses you might catch nice bass and walleye with the sunfish.
As I mentioned last week, largemouth bass occupy almost every niche in a lake during mid-summer. ย I seem to find most of my large bass on mid-depth rock piles with weeds nearby. Texas rigged Berkley Power Baits and Gulp or Carolina Rigs are no-fail. Just keep track of your bait sizes and colorsโdonโt be afraid to use large baits this time of year, especially if youโre targeting large bass. Spinner baits are easy to fish as well and itโs possible to catch some nice bonus northern with them too. Leeches and night crawlers are strong baits for walleye all summer long. Run spinners, Lindy Rigs or jigsโitโs all good.
Have fun this week in Otter Tail Lakes Country and continue to be diligent in removing vegetation off your boat and trailer and draining your live wells, and pulling your drain plug after you fish Otter Tail County lakes. ย Thanks for helping keep the lakes free of AIS!
