Tri-County Health Care Foundation to host Duck Drop
Tri-County Health Care Foundation to host Duck Drop
The Tri-County Health Care Foundation will host the annual Duck Drop, under the new name Splash out Stigma (SOS) Duck Drop, in conjunction with Tri-County’s annual Block Party on Tuesday, July 17, at 6 p.m. on the Tri-County Wesley lawn. The purpose of the Duck Drop is to bring awareness to mental health and suicide prevention.
The Duck Drop was originally part of a community effort called Life – Live It!, which was managed by the Cyber Café, Wadena-Deer Creek schools and local mental health organizations. With the closing of the Cyber Café, the Tri-County Foundation has agreed to help manage and host the event.
Ducks will be piled into the front end of a pay loader, which will drop them into a large tank filled with water. When the end of the tank is opened, the current will coax the ducks to the finish line. Prizes will be awarded to the first three ducks to cross. First place is $1,000, second is $500 and third is $250. Participants need not be present to win.
Ducks are on sale now and can be purchased for $5 each and are available at Weber’s Hardware, Hometown Crafts, Thrifty White Pharmacy, the Wadena-Deer Creek High School office and the Caring Heart Boutique gift shop at Tri-County. Fifty percent of the proceeds will go to the WDC School District to enhance its behavioral health services, and the remaining 50 percent will go to the TCHC Foundation to distribute funds for need-based behavioral health grant funding.
This event is sponsored by the Tri-County Health Care Foundation, Wadena Rotary Club, Wadena Lions Club, Tri-County Health Care Auxiliary, and Wadena-Deer Creek schools.
