The Bite is on in Otter Tail County
By Bret Setterholm bretsguideservice.com
While fall is upon us, this is one of my favorite times to fish. The bite has really picked up, fish are more predictable and some great weather is still forecasted.
The lakes have started the fall turn over, look for those schools of walleyes on the deeper sides of the humps. Long points and inside turns holding bigger groups of fish. Depths where fish are really starting to show up is in that 40 ft range. They can be pretty easy to find using your Lowrance structure scan. This is a great tool to find fish fast and increase your catch success.
Lures that are really hot right now are typically the UV or glow. Rapala jigging raps #7 and #9 have been the fastest way to put fish in the boat. But, it’s still hard to beat the old jig and minnow approach. Hard water is on the way, get out now and take advantage of some of the last few days of warmer weather before freeze up!
