Roadside Attractions
It’s not geocaching, it’s easier to find these locations! Giant statues representing their town are fun to see and take a selfie. Whether you want to explore the area or just go for a drive, Otter Tail County has a handful of BIG animals you can find. Here are some of our favorite roadside attractions.
City of Ottertail
Stop and see the BIG Otter in the City of Ottertail. This is a 14-foot-long otter that holds a fish under its front paw and is located in front of First National Bank. Ken Nyberg is the artist behind this creation.
Pelican Rapids
Pelican Pete is located in downtown Pelican Rapids, at the base of the Pelican Rapids (or Mill Ponds) dam and stands 15.5 ft tall.
Vergas
No trip to Vergas, MN would be complete without stopping by to say “hi” to the world’s largest loon (source). Overlooking Long Lake, this loon is 20 ft tall. There is also a public swimming beach, walking trail and public restrooms at the park,
Deer Creek
Otter Tail County is known for big deer. None compare to this roadside attraction in Deer Creek, MN. This 12 point buck is worth a picture, located at the intersection of Hwy 210 and 29.
Battle Lake
The streets of Battle Lake are filled with hustle and bustle come summertime. Make sure to seek out Rusty the Fish on your next visit. Standing at 15 feet tall Rusty, is located in downtown Battle Lake right next to Smackin’ Cakes in art alley.
Fergus Falls
Meet Otto the otter, he is 40 ft long and located in Adams Park. According to roadsideamerica.com it was built by local high schoolers in 1972 as their contribution to the towns centennial celebration.

Perham’s Turtle Race Park and Waves of Discovery wall with over 50 hidden objects to find, New York Mills’ Sculpture Park and Barn displays sculptures by local artists in a spread around a small roadside park, and Vining’s Nyberg Sculpture Park which features Ken Nyberg’s metal art.
