Reeling in Fall in Otter Tail Lakes Country

The dog days of summer just won’t stop. Despite this, fishing remains good!
Lots of presentations are working for walleyes. Deep, shallow, weeds, rocks, sand are all holding fish at times. This time of year timing can be more important than presentation. When you find fish keep checking on them till they start to feed. Even though the water is hot, don’t over look very shallow water! Crawlers and cranks are still out producing minnows but that should start to change as the weather cools.
Panfish are still very active and can be easily found by trolling weed beds until you hook up. Small cranks, jigs, and lounge bait are all working.
Bass seem to be holding in deep weeds or thick slop. Jigs and frogs are my go to.
Muskies are turning up the night bite. They can be taken casting or trolling with big baits like supermodels and topwaters.
We’ve got the turning point and each day will get better and better so get out there and bend some rods!
