Being outdoors is a favorite pastime of Minnesotans and that especially holds true during the summer. Listening to music also ranks high on the list of most people’s favorite activities.
The Ottertail Business and Community Association (OTBCA) has been blending these two favorite activities together for the past six summers with their Ottertail Music in the Park series. The live, outdoor performances at the Ottertail City Park are scheduled for the first and third Tuesdays of June, July, and August, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. When the weather is inclement, the events are moved to an alternate indoor location.
Hot dogs, pop and popcorn are available, with the proceeds going toward the OTBCA Scholarship Program for area high school seniors attending schools in Perham, Battle Lake, Henning, and New York Mills. All food costs are sponsored by Thrivent so that all the money collected can go toward the scholarship program.
OTBCA President Ron Grobeck says that the event is good for the community in several ways. “There is a very high level of musical talent in Otter Tail County and we think that these great concerts are just one more way to bring the community together. So please come out, eat a hot dog, and support the scholarship program!”
These musical events are free to the public, and it is suggested that visitors bring their own chairs. The bands play new music as well as peoples favorites.
The line up for the summer of 2020 will be finalized by February and will be published on the OTBCA Facebook page and VisitOttertail.com.
