Open Mic Night at Backwoods BBQ August 9
Free to Attend & Open to All
Open Mic Night is “Around Town” for one more month this summer in New York Mills!
Join us Thursday August 9th at Backwoods BBQ from 7:00-9:00 p.m. for our monthly Open Mic Night. There is no need to sign up, just drop in and enjoy. Whether a first time performer or a seasoned professional, Open Mic welcomes all types of performances from singing to spoken word, to comedy, and anything in between. Everyone is welcome to perform, or just come to listen.
While you take in the local performers, enjoy Backwoods delicious barbecue menu as well as beer, wine and soft drinks, and be sure to leave room for Cedar Crest ice cream (fresh from Wisconsin!)! Backwoods BBQ is located in the historic New York Mills Creamery building at 102 E Centennial 84 Drive.
Open Mic Night is always on the 2nd Thursday of the month, and returns to the Cultural Center on September 13th after a summer “unplugged and around town.” The Cultural Center would like to thank Mills Lanes, The Barn (City of NYM), and Backwoods BBQ for their partnership in hosting Open Mic Nights around town this summer.
Open Mic is always free and open to the public. Questions? Call the Cultural Center at 218-385-3339.
Backwoods BBQ is family-owned and operated, and has been open in the Creamery since June 2017. Backwoods smokes their meats to perfection and offers handmade sides for a full and delicious meal. Cedar Crest ice cream, soft drinks, beer and wine round out their satisfying menu. Dine in, carry-out, and catering available. Open Tuesday – Saturday 11am – 8pm.
The Cultural Center in New York Mills is a rural hub for creativity, community vitality, and lifelong learning in the arts. We offer visitors intimate opportunities to encounter art and artists in our 80-seat concert listening room, two galleries in a historic building, a gift store featuring local artists, an artist residency program, a sculpture park, and a variety of opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive. Since our incorporation in 1990, we have been passionate about connecting people to artists and rich cultural experiences in rural Minnesota, celebrating the local and being a window to the world.
