Fishing Report 7-29-20
By Randin Olson
The dog days are here.
This time of year can be a tough time to get ol’ marble eyes. The water is at its peak temp, baitfish are in huge clouds everywhere and storms come through seemingly every other day. If your willing to work a bit harder there’s still plenty of fish to catch!
There’s a lot of different patterns working now but my most productive as of late is to troll cranks in the inside weed edge. Speed kills this time of year. The more water you cover the more active fish you contact. Crawlers are still producing if you find a pod of fish but I challenge you to try something different.
Pan fish are going crazy. We’re still finding them in shallow weeds trolling small jigs or cranks. Bass have settled on deep weed edges and can be tricked with jigs or Texas rigs.
Don’t give up during the dog days. Now is the time to buckle up and move fast! Randin olson
