Fishing Report 4-20-22

Old Man Winter just won’t let go! As soon as we get a glimpse of warmer temps and more open water, we get a bitter taste of winter weather again. Hopefully we get some more sunshine and hot air to break up the remaining ice.
Some rivers and creeks are open, so you can get out and scratch the open water itch if you so desire. Suckers should start running any time now, so you can get out and check bridges and slack water areas for a high concentration of fish. Sucker fishing can be a relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Sit on a riverbank with some nightcrawlers and wait for a bite! They’re actually quite tasty too! We cooked one up not too long ago at our 500th show party and it was a hit. If suckers don’t float your boat, spend some time getting gear ready for opener. It’s right around the corner! When the water warms up, the crappies and sunnies will move shallow to spawn as well, providing ample fishing opportunities. Just have a bit more patience…
