Co-Presented by NYM Lions Club & Cultural Center
The New York Mills Lions Club and New York Mills Regional Cultural Center have teamed up to bring Oktoberfest back to NYM on Saturday, October 14, from 7 – 11 p.m. at the NYM City Hall Ballroom.
Be sure to wear your dancing shoes to enjoy live music by The Meat Rabbits – not your grandma’s polka band!
German beer, brats, and pretzels will be available for sale, PLUS try your hand at a variety of games and fun activities including hammering, stein holding & brat tossing, and wear your best German outfits for a chance to win the Best Dressed award!
The Meat Rabbits have been called “a merry band of middle-aged men” who were brought together by their kids who attend the same school. They enjoy rocking out to their own unique version of polka. At the core of their sound, The Meat Rabbits combine a grinding rock tempo with a bit of their polka heritage. The smiles written across their faces during practice showcase perhaps a bit of nostalgia for the days when their grandparents would play polka music. NYM native Matt Rutten is the drummer in this 5-person polka-rock band based in Fargo-Moorhead.
Don’t miss out on this chance to enjoy live polka-rock music, locally made German beer and food, German carnival-style games, and have fun celebrating German culture with your neighbors and friends!
Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door, and include entry, live music, and a commemorative NYM Oktoberfest mug, and are available online (https://kulcher.
This event will raise funds to support the work of the NYM Lions Club and NYM Cultural Center.
