32nd Annual Phelps Mill Festival on July 9th & 10th!
Head on over to the 32nd annual Phelps Mill Festival. The Phelps Mill festival is held annually on the 2nd weekend of July. This year’s festival will be July 9th and 10th. We provide two full days of art, food entertainment and kids’ activities. If you haven’t visited our festival in the past or it’s been awhile, this is the year to make your way to the Phelps Mill County Park just north of Underwood. You can fill your day with expanded kids’ activities and art projects; listening to our top notch entertainment, shopping a wide variety of artist booths; and eating at a number of food booths.
Paint in the Park with Art Bar 39. Visit Art Bar 39’s booth anytime during the festival and for a nominal fee, you can paint your own original work of art. No experience needed!
The Festival features fine artist and crafters from around the USA. Each exhibitor is handpicked by a panel of jurors to ensure quality and originality for the show. From paintings and prints, to jewelry and apparel, to furniture and pottery, everyone will find something special to take home with them. For those that aren’t as interested in shopping, there’s still a lot going on! This year, Park Region Telephone/Otter Tail Telcom is providing free high speed internet.
For the kids, there’s a children’s art and activity tent (both days) sponsored by Destiny Church. Destiny Church has also agreed to add other kids’ activities including turtle races, bean bag toss and much more. And for the whole family, find a place in the shade at the main stage and enjoy the entertainment, perfect for all ages.
On Saturday at both Noon and 2:45, on stage will be Magic by Chaz – “Come one, come all! Prepare to believe the unbelievable! Witness marvels that have entertained the crowned heads of Europe! Festival-goers flock around the colorful and energetic figure of the nineteenth-century “medicine man” peddling his wonders, and the fun begins. Also on Saturday at 1:15 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. you can enjoy Music by Jack & Kitty. Kitty is the niece of reggae legend Bunny Wailer. Jack’s baby sitter was ukulele playing eccentric Tiny Tim. Together these Emmy Award winning singer/songwriters from Minnesota play a refreshing blend of organic vaudeville folk that one reviewer described as “Beyoncé meets Leon Redbone or Alicia Keys meets Tom Waits”.
Sunday’s Community Service and music will be at 10:30 a.m. and provided by Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls. At 12:45, Giving Back Jack will provide 3 hours of entertainment. Giving Back Jack is a band out of Fergus Falls, MN. They have been playing music for most of their lives and love every bit of it. They play anything from the classic rock n roll era to the rock sound of today. They are not like other bands in the area.
They cover a wide variety but try to stay away from total main stream music and don’t want to bore you with the same music you hear every day. They have a very refreshing and unique play list that people love to hear and they love to show the crowd a great time!
And don’t forget about the food! Phelps Mill Festival has several food vendors; fry bread, brats, pork chops, turkey legs, baked potatoes and root beer floats, just to name a few. All of the food vendors are local non-profit groups working towards fundraising, and making some delicious eats for everyone to enjoy.
