Children's Summer Art Programs At Kaddatz Galleries
Kaddatz Announces Children’s Summer Art Programs
FERGUS FALLS, MN – High school-age artists will get their own classes during this year’s Summer Arts Academy at the Kaddatz Galleries. Students in Grades 9-12 will learn drawing and painting with New York City-based artist Mary Proenza. Previously, older students had taken classes alongside much younger students.
“We feel creating a separate group for older students will allow us to offer instruction at their level,” said interim curator Amanda Cross. “It’s important to reach artists in this age range as they begin to expand their knowledge and skills.”
Proenza will teach during Session One of the Summer Arts Academy, which runs June 26-30. The high school-age class meets 5-8 p.m. The cost is $100. Session One will also offer a printmaking course to students in Grades 1-4. Artist Su Legatt will teach cyanotype from 10 a.m.-noon. Cost is $75. Cyanotype is a photographic printmaking process that produces a cyan-blue image. It’s where the term blueprint comes from.Students in Grades 5-8 will also study cyanotypes with Legatt from 1-4 p.m. Cost is $100.All classes meet at the Kaddatz. A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available for each session.
The Summer Arts Academy offers students a variety of creative experiences allowing them to develop their art skills and techniques. Session Two is scheduled for July 31-August 4. Students can register online, by calling the gallery, or in person at the Kaddatz.
