Window to the World Travel Experience: Finland 2022
The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center is excited to offer a unique opportunity to travel to Finland. “Traditions of Finland”, a Cultural Center event is planned with EF/Go Ahead Tours, and will take place September 15-26, 2022.
During this 12-day tour, travelers will have the opportunity to learn about Finnish arts, culture and history. The trip includes 10 nights in handpicked hotels, cooking class, beer tasting, and wine tasting. Also, activities included are guided sightseeing tours to historical and cultural sites and group craft at the world-renowned iittala glass factory.
This cultural tour is limited to 26 people and is not open to the general public on the Go Ahead Tour Site. Instead, the experience is a specialized tour created just for the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center as part of our “Window to the World” program.
The Cultural Center’s vision statement includes the organizational goal of “celebrating the local and being a window to the world.” In 2019, the Center launched its “Window to the World” program, which offered a travel experience along with related workshops and events held locally. The idea behind this strategy is to offer both an actual travel experience as well as local opportunities. They include learning about another culture through hands-on workshops, classes, and group experiences right here at home.
That first experience focused on Italian culture and included a trip to Italy for 18 travelers in June 2019. Unfortunately, the next trip was originally planned for Finland in 2021, but was postponed to 2022 due to COVID. 2022 travel dates to Finland are September 15-26, 2022. Locally, workshops about Finnish arts and culture are scheduled throughout the summer. Workshop dates are June 29, July 27, and August 24, each from 6-7 pm. Finally, a gallery show of Finnish photographs and art is planned for December 2022.
