Van Bruggen appointed new TCHC board chair
Tri-County Health Care’s Board of Directors recently appointed Matthew Van Bruggen as the chair for 2018 and 2019. Van Bruggen takes over the chair position from Dave Fjeldheim, a board member since 2010 and board chair for the last two years.
An attorney at Pemberton, Sorlie, Rufer & Kershner, PLLP in Wadena, Van Bruggen and his wife, Shanna, live in Wadena and have four children. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys spending time with family, coaching youth hockey and doing anything outside.
The current superintendent of Sebeka schools, Fjeldheim has worked as a teacher, coach, athletic director and principal. His community and professional involvement includes numerous organizations. He and his wife, Kathy, a special education teacher at Sebeka High School, have two children.

Newly elected members of the board include Dr. John Pate, family medicine physician at Tri-County, and Paul Drange, director of regional programs at National Joint Powers Alliance. Current members Terry Davis and Ryan Anderson accepted the vice chair and secretary officer roles, respectfully. Members who retired from the board in 2017 include Jon Johnson, insurance agent, and Dr. Bobbi Adams, family practice physician at Tri-County.
The 11-member governing board supports Tri-County’s mission to improve the health of the communities it serves. Key responsibilities include ensuring that the mission, vision and standards of excellence are achieved; developing and monitoring organizational strategic activities; monitoring patient quality and safety programs; and maintaining the financial integrity of Tri-County Health Care.
