Take part in the We Are Water project
Let’s Make Everything About Water this Year in Otter Tail County
Take part in the We Are Water project through your community, organization or schools
March 17, 2022 – Otter Tail County, MN–Have you ever asked yourself this question: What does water mean to me? Otter Tail County would like you to join the We are Water project and share your answers with others. Beginning on August 18 and running through October 10, 2022, you are invited to visit the traveling exhibit and share your water story.
This year Otter Tail County is spotlighting the employees and programs who protect water in the area. Through shared stories, the public will gain insight into the working efforts of county government to protect water. Look for water stories in your local newspapers, on social media and visit the We Are Water webpage: ottertailcountymn.us/we-are-water-mn/
In anticipation of the exhibit, teachers, civic leaders, organizations and members of the pubic are asked to take some time this year to focus a special project, curriculum or community event around your relationship to or protection of water.
- Start or join a book club
- Present a trivia night with water as the theme
- Participate in a swimming class and think about where the clean water came from
- Hold a watercolor or art event
- Take a sample of your well water to a nitrate testing clinic
- Sponsor or participate in a waterway clean up
- Try yoga on a paddle board this summer
- Hold a writing workshop with water as the theme
- Host a Water Bar or Story Sharing Arc
Educators are welcome to use the MN Humanities Center resources for water workshops and extension lessons to use outside the exhibit. Teachers and students are encouraged to attend the exhibit.
Let’s make 2022 the year of water in Otter Tail County and celebrate our relationship to water and our connections to each other! Look for upcoming We Are Water events such as a day on the water paddling, a booth at the county fairs, and an online photo contest. If you plan a water related event, please contact Shannon Terry at 218-671-3445 or [email protected] so your event can be shared on the We Are Water webpage.
