Swan Lake Resort & Campground

Swan Lake Resort and Campground is a family-oriented Resort and Campground that has been in operation since the 1950s. Originally known as John’s Landing, it emerged in response to locals requesting to launch their boats into Swan Lake and camp in Farmer John’s nearby field. Over the years, it grew into Swan Lake Resort and Campground as cabins, camp sites, and work sheds were added around John’s farmhouse. Although the resort has changed hands several times, it has preserved its reputation for being a cornerstone of the local community and for making lifelong memories possible.

The resort is the only one located on Swan Lake in Otter Tail County and is approximately 7 miles south of Fergus Falls, MN. It occupies roughly 18 acres of land adjacent to Swan Lake. Current features include an owner’s home, five cabins, 29 full hookup (sewer, water, and electric) pull through campsites, one group camping site with full hookup, a bath house with men’s and women’s toilets & showers, a coin operated laundry, a work shed, a game room, a fish cleaning shed, and a boat shed. Attached to the owner’s home is a small convenience store providing tackle, groceries, general necessities, ice, firewood, and souvenirs.

The resort has 780 feet of lakeshore frontage, including a large, sandy swimming beach. Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboats are available for guests to use free of charge. Four motorboats, two pontoons, and a giant paddle boat are also available for rent.

Benches and chairs are placed around the resort, providing guests with a quiet spot to relax, listen to the call of a loon, and watch bald eagles in flight. A mowed hiking trail winds through the peaceful woods and offers a hilltop view of the entire resort and lakefront. A playground is located in the center of the resort in an optimal location for parents to keep an eye on their children at play. Volleyball, badminton, horseshoes, and a basketball hoop are provided in addition to various yard games. Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort.

Each of the five cabins sleeps 6-8 people and is fully furnished and well equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, two bedrooms, television, soft water, AC/heat, deck, outdoor table, charcoal grill, and fire ring. Included with each cabin stay is a dock space for a personal boat. Cabins are typically rented by the week, with a three night minimum stay.

The campsites are split into 20 seasonal sites that are occupied from May 1st through September 30th, and 10 transient sites, including the group campsite. Transient sites are available for one night stays during the week and a minimum of two night stays for weekends.
