OTCHS 90th Annual Meeting to be in Perham
OTCHS 90th Annual Meeting in Perham
The 90th annual meeting of the Otter Tail County Historical Society will be held on Thursday, September 14, at the Lakeside Country Club in Perham. The evening begins with a social hour at 6 p.m. and a patio cookout buffet at 7 p.m. Following a brief business meeting guest speaker Nancy O’Brien Wagner will present Wonder Women of World War I.
O’Brien Wager is the co-founder of Bluestem Heritage which does research, program development, interpretive planning and project management for historical organizations. At Bluestem, she designed “81 Minutes” an exhibition about the 35W Bridge Collapse that won an American Association for State and Local History award. She has authored many local histories including the centennial history of the Minnesota Red Cross.
Her latest work is the book Alice in France: the World War I Letters of Alice O’Brien. The book documents the letters and experience of O’Brien Wagner’s great-aunt who served in France during World War I as a Red Cross volunteer. Alice in France has been described as “absorbing, charming and detailed, these letters reveal insights into internal motivation, recount adventurous experiences, and demonstrate women’s contributions to the U.S. victory in an era before American women had the right to vote.”
Cost for the annual meeting is $35 for OTCHS members and $40 for nonmembers. For ticket information contact the historical society at 218-736-6038. Reservations must be received by September 7.
