The City of Ottertail is the closest community. However, the City of Battle Lake is only 7 miles away. It is 11 miles from Perham, 14 miles from Henning and 21 miles from Fergus Falls. Otter Tail Lake has a surface area of 13,728 acres or roughly 21 sq. miles. Maximum depth is 120 feet. Otter Tail Lake is known for it’s walleye fishing. Talked to a friend yesterday who got a 2 person limit. They were catching the fish in deeper water on bottom bouncers and crawlers. Three public access can be found on Otter Tail Lake. Riverside Landing is on the southeast side right off of Co. Rd. 145. The Pelican Bay access or Sportsmans Access is on the west side of the lake off MN HWY 78. The Riviera Access is on the “north” side of Co. Rd. 1. The Otter Tail River flows into & out of Otter Tail Lake. In addition to walleyes, Otter Tail Lake has largemouth & smallmouth bass, lots of pike & some decent perch. There are also some really nice bluegills and crappie if you can find them. Otter Tail Offers a unique opportunity for anglers to catch a sturgeon. This is catch and release ONLY, so please handle with care.
