We invite you to come #FindYourInnerOtter in the land of 1,048 lakes. The Lida Lakes are arguably two of the most scenic lakes in our region. North Lida Lake is a 5,564-acre mesotrophic (moderately fertile) lake located in northwestern Otter Tail County approximately five miles east of Pelican Rapids, MN. North Lida Lake is connected to South Lida Lake by a navigable culvert under State Highway 108 along the south shoreline. South Lida Lake is 856 acres and has a max depth of 48 feet. There is one public access on the north side of North Lida right off Co. HWY 4. There is a public access on South Lida, however it is within Maplewood State Park so a fee/pass is required. There a private access to South Lida right off HWY 108, however, a fee is required there as well. Both Lida Lakes offer some of the best multi-species fishing in the area. Walleye, Northern Pike, Black Crappie, and Bluegill are the dominant gamefish species in the fish community. Please be sure to check the MN DNR regulations as there as some lakes specific slot limits on these lakes. The DNR and the Lida Lakes Association have been involved in several cooperative projects designed to improve and protect water quality and fish habitat. In 1998, a shoreline stabilization project was completed. Rock rip-rap was used to stabilize several areas of shoreline that were experiencing varying degrees of erosion. In 1997, 160 Smallmouth Bass nesting structures were constructed and placed in North Lida Lake. These structures help Smallmouth Bass reproduce more successfully. Most of the eastern shoreline is part of Maplewood State Park with offers rolling hills lined with trees that turn into a vibrant backdrop come fall. There are plenty of lodging options near the Lida Lakes. Some of our members close by include; Lakes Inn at Dunvilla, The Pelican Motel & East Silent Lake Resort. #lakelife #ottertailcounty #minnesota #onlyinmn #vacation #travel
