Justin Morneau is Men’s Night Out keynote speaker
Justin Morneau, special assistant to baseball operations with the Minnesota Twins and former Twins first baseman, will be the keynote speaker for Tri-County Health Care’s annual Men’s Night Out on Monday, April 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wadena-Deer Creek Elementary School. Men’s Night Out is a free educational event that focuses on health and wellness for men of all ages.
Morneau was drafted by the Twins in the third round of the 1999 First-Year Player Draft and played 14 seasons in the major leagues, including 11 seasons with the Twins from 2003-13. He also played for Pittsburgh, Colorado and Chicago-AL from 2013-16. The former first baseman played a key role on three different AL Central Division championship teams and won the American League Most Valuable Player Award in 2006. The four-time All-Star played 1,278 games in a Twins uniform, hitting .278 with 221 home runs and 860 RBI.
Morneau was hired by the Twins as special assistant to baseball operations after announcing his retirement. In his new role, Morneau will help position player development by focusing on transition programs and teaching an understanding of major league expectations, environment, and culture. He will also be involved in the amateur draft process and throughout the year as a resource for player acquisitions.
From 5 to 6:15 p.m., Men’s Night Out attendees can enjoy informational booths on a variety of topics relating to men’s health, a complimentary light meal, free lab testing and blood pressure screenings by M-State nursing students.
The evening program will kick off at 6:15 p.m. with a question and answer session by a panel of Tri-County Health Care medical professionals. Immediately following the panel, Morneau will take the stage.
Men’s Night Out attendees can sign up at the event for a chance to be one of 15 people chosen for an exclusive meet-and-greet session with Morneau held directly after the keynote session.
