This position is eligible to telework up to two days per week with supervisory approval.This position will lead, manage, coordinate and conduct the State’s most complex, sensitive cases involving Law Enforcement Use of Force cases and Law Enforcement Sexual Assault cases. These cases often become national and international in nature. This position will help coordinate media surrounding in these investigations and will have to be familiar with over 500 different law enforcement agencies policies & procedures, as well as the investigative policies from 87 different County Attorney’s and the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office.These positions will also be required to be on-call and respond outside of the normal business hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.The Department of Public Safety is unable to provide sponsorship for work visas. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the start of employment. DPS does not participate in E-Verify.**Minimum Qualifications**1.) A two-year degree from an accredited institution with six (6) or more years full-time experience as a licensed peace officer conducting felony level criminal investigations with a law enforcement agency-OR-A four-year degree from an accredited institution with two (2) or more years full-time experience as a licensed peace officer conducting felony level criminal investigations with a law enforcement agency-OR-A four-year degree from an accredited institution, plus five (5) or more years as a licensed police officer, plus one (1) or more specialized skillset listed below:Specialized Skillset:Fluency in a foreign languageDegree or certification in accounting or other closely related field.Degree or certification in a technology related specialty or computer science.Demonstrated advanced computer skill, including, but not limited to a degree in computer forensics, or one of the following certifications: EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), AccessData Certified Examiner (ACE), Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE), Global Information Assurance Certification Forensic Examiner (GCFE)Juris Doctorate DegreeAND2.) Applicants must be currently licensed as a Peace Officer in the State of Minnesota or be eligible to be licensed as a Peace Officer.3.) Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation, physical and psychological examination prior to hire.4.) Must reside within 35 miles of the assigned post.5.) Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.**Preferred Qualifications**1.) Previous experience working homicide, narcotics, police use of deadly force or sexual assault investigations.2.) Previous experience working with diverse populations.3.) Previous experience with community engagement activities.**Physical Requirements**Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50-pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes.
