Otto The Otter

Built by Fergus Falls high school students under the direction of Steve Jaenisch in 1972 to commemorate the centennial founding of Fergus Falls. The icon represents the Otter Tail River and the Fergus Falls High School mascot.

Prairie Chicken

Built in 1976 for the U.S. Bicentennial, the 9,000-pound concrete statue celebrates the town's title as the Prairie Chicken Capital of Minnesota.

Pelican Pete

Project led by Pelican Rapids Chamber of Commerce. Truman Strand of Strand Hardware spearheaded construction with local metalworkers Ted and Anton Resset in 1957. Alvin Anderson then plastered the bird.

Overlooking Long Lake in the City Park. Built in early 1960's & paid for by Vergas Fire Department.

Installed in its current location in 1998, after the original 1986 wooden statue was destroyed by a fire during renovations. The work of Wisconsin artist, Dave Oswald.

Tractor

Made by Ken Nyberg in 1997. Contains 1,154 pieces of scrap iron, weighs 3,800 pounds, and was completed using 470 hours of labor. Located in the New York Mills Sculpture Park / The Barn.

Big Otter

Artist Ken Nyberg sculpted this mascot for Ottertail out of scrap steel. Visitors can enjoy taking photos with the statue and learning about the significance of otters in the area's ecosystem.

Watermelon

It was created by Ken Nyberg as an homage to the town's annual Watermelon Day. The sculpture weighs 1,000 lbs and took 121 hours and 512 pieces to complete. It joins other large items like a human foot and a wrench at the Nyberg Sculpture Park.

Artist Sue Seeger made Rusty out of scrap metal in 2015 thanks to a grant from Lake Region Arts Council.
