Weather Update
February delivered a little bit of everything, which, honestly, feels like the new normal. We soaked up beautiful sunny days in the 40s (WHAT?!?), only to be reminded it’s still winter with fresh snowfall soon after. Wicked winds and frigid temps swept through, followed by gorgeous hoarfrost that sparkled across the landscape, and then melting slush underfoot. The only consistent thing this month was the inconsistency!
The warm stretch melted much of our snowpack. Just as we started spotting grass and shedding our heavy coats, the winds returned and the sky dropped a couple more inches back onto the ground. With the frost out for over a week, the softened, icy terrain made for a few tricky driving days. As always, February kept us on our toes!
Explore Minnesota Tourism Conference
Mid-February, we attended the Explore Minnesota Tourism Conference in Duluth (both virtually & in-person.) We are blessed to be in a state that cherishes and promotes tourism with such love and passion. The conference always delivers great networking opportunities, excellent learning topics and a space to get inspired and be creative. We walk away having learned more about our great state and fellow tourism peers as well as with ideas and practices to improve Fair Hills.
Explore Minnesota’s Star of the North campaigns always delight us and we are honored to be featured in some of their publications this year.

We know that tower! We are thrilled to represent Minnesota and Lake Life this year, our special year, the Centennial!
Detroit Lakes non-profit Project 412 was a featured speaker at the conference, sharing their experience about bringing the Trolls to Detroit Lakes! If you haven’t heard the buzz yet, click the photo to learn more.
The Trolls were recently named one of TIME’s World’s Greatest Places of 2025, an incredible honor!
And the best part? They’re right here in our own backyard, absolutely worth the visit!

Who remembers the waitron uniforms from back in the day? They may or may not be returning for some special meals!
And break out your fascinator & newsboy cap, Wednesday’s Dinner will be a 1920’s roaring good time. Seriously, it’s going to be the bee’s knees! Wear your 1920’s finest, or borrow from us, it’s going to be an elegant evening!

To mark the milestone, our gift shop will be overflowing with commerative keepsakes and nostalgic goodies. You might get decision paralysis and have to buy it all. Remember, we warned you!
