Schools out time for schools of fish
By Dan Amundson, Sporting Journal Radio
Schools out time for schools of fish! Luckily for anglers, the fish are cooperating.
Walleyes are transitioning out to their summer haunts, so covering water is the ticket. Troll crankbaits or spinner rigs until you find a pod of fish. Then you can slow down and jig them or fish slip bobbers. Be sure to cover lots of different depths and structures, as fish are all over the place right now. Be sure to keep different baits in your boat too. One day leeches will be best, and the next day might be a strong minnow bite. Don’t get hung up fishing a spot just because you caught fish there the day before either. These fish are on the move, and things change quickly this time of year.
The panfish bite is still going strong. Small jigs and plastics are the ticket, and look for new emergent weed growth. Cabbage is king!
As always, the bass bite is going strong. Fish are coming off their beds, so start looking at your typical post-spawn techniques. The topwater frog bite will really start to heat up!
