Safety & Training Coordinator Position Open
Full-Time / Reports to Director of HR / Exempt / $35,000-$55,000 year / M-F / Days – Hours may vary
The Safety & Training Coordinator will assume primary responsibility for organizing and conducting internal training and processes to ensure ongoing safety and compliance in the workforce. Key duties of the position will include new hire onboarding programs, managing workplace injuries, and tracking/auditing required competencies.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Plan and implement OSHA policies and programs.
- Adhere and Enforce all Safety rules and regulations.
- Coordinates & submits work comp claims, acting as main contact for employee, supervisor, physician, and insurance; schedules appointments and escalates claims to the Executive Team as needed
- Participates in accident investigation process and weekly action items updates
- Works with supervisors/managers to ensure competency and compliance with worksite injury incidents
- Maintains accurate & timely OSHA Log and Incident Log for weekly action items review
- Prepares monthly claims exposure reports for the Executive Team
- Conducts/organizes employee training, including new hire orientation and ongoing trainings
- Implements schedule & programming for regulatory safety training
- Tracks new hire onboarding checklist progress and follows up with trainers/supervisors as necessary
- Enters & maintains all safety & training documentation as dictated by regulatory agencies & internal policies
- Leads plant safety actions through audits, trainings, and process changes on all shifts
- Reviews data and feedback forms and suggests changes to improve safety
- Maintains safety supply stock; coordinates inventory needs with Managers
- Assists in the planning and execution of employee wellness activities and events
- Assists HR with recruiting, interviewing, and screening processes for manufacturing positions; suggests & implement tools to improve quality of hire & retention efforts
- Assists with other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years current safety and training experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- 2 years of post-secondary education in Safety, HR or equivalent experience/understanding of safety & training
- Practical knowledge of the work comp claims process and regulations
- Experience in managing “return to work” activities (ie – light duty, modified work activities)
- Hands-on with interpersonal and communication skills – able to connect with a variety of disciplines across varying forums and comfortable speaking in front of groups
- Organized and self-directed; strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to see and suggest appropriate changes and shift in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient computer skills, specifically in Word, Outlook, and Excel
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- OSHA 30 certification
- Experience with Kronos-based software or other LMS programs
- Experience with plant safety and work comp programs
- Prior experience with manufacturing training programs and software
