Perham Sportsman’s Club – Making a Better Tomorrow
By Rebecca Umland
The Perham Sportsman’s Club (PSC) was reborn in 2008 when a few avid sportsmen recognized the need to regain what had been lost in the past and enhance what we have today, in order to make a better tomorrow. Outdoor recreational opportunities are not a guarantee and should never be taken for granted.
Having acquired 400 acres of land, planting over 16,000 trees, releasing over 83,000 pheasants, building a clubhouse and more over the last 14 years, has given the club a supportive network in the Perham area. This has created the ability to have an archery range, build habitat on the land, open a beautiful and highly functioning pistol and rifle range, and host youth and disabled veterans hunting events.
The club plans to do local projects, with local help, with local money. The purpose of the clubhouse is to have a place for Perham Sportsman’s Club members and board to meet, and also to provide a site for member events. Businesses, non-profits, outdoor enthusiasts, wildlife and conservation groups located in the area are also welcome to use the facility. Whether for board meetings or other events, such as gun training, and ATV/snowmobile training, boater’s safety and more, they are welcome.
The Perham Sportsman’s Club holds various raffles, with their Chili Feed being the largest fundraiser of the year. Memberships also help to support the club’s projects. The club’s purpose and mission is:
•To foster, expand, and perpetuate the use of our local outdoor habitat, to unify and provide for a social venue for all types of sportsmen, sportswomen, and children.
• To maintain and advance the motto “all things to all sportsmen” and treat all sports and events fostered by the club as equal.
• To have a good fellowship among all other outdoor groups and to cooperate with all conservation organizations in the propagation and conservation of game.
• To maintain and enjoy the respect and friendship
of the community. • To help keep all local financial outdoor
contributions local.
• To seek to restore the opportunity for the outdoor experience that is equal to our fondest memories while enhancing the social aspects of the outdoor experiences we cherish today.
The Clubhouse and Rifle Range is located at 42825 Harvest Avenue, Perham, MN. For more information about the Perham Sportsman’s Club visit PerhamSportsman.com.
