Looking Forward

Field Day – Saturday May 17th 9-11:30

Last year the community came together to help me plant the flower fields. What was started in desperation to plant the field turning into the definition of community! I would love to have you out again for some dirt therapy before the start of another summer season. If you feel like planting you can get your hands in the dirt but If you simply feel like coming out to get some fresh air and good company I would be just as happy to have you!

We’ll provide breakfast and a few other treats with more details released closer to the day of.

When will the flowers be ready?

May

• End of May anticipate our fields being open for on a few select weekends for tulip U-Picks.
• Subscriptions Start the end of May/June – watch for emails with official dates

June

• Flowers start to gain momentum – anticipate peony U-Picks when peonies start to bloom and the Farm Stand is regularly stocked!

July – September

• U-Picks are open daily
• Watch for workshops and special events in the flower fields

Behind the Scenes on the Farm

Last weekend I celebrated turning 31! It was a good birthday celebrated with a dinner at Spanky’s, a cake from MW Pastries, and the best treat of all – my kids spending the night at Grandma’s so I could wake up and drink hot coffee with my husband in peace!

A friend gifted us some duck eggs to hatch. We ended up with 4 spunky ducklings to love on. Summers of my childhood were often spent with ducklings following me around the farm and I’m looking forward to having a few around again.

The high tunnel tulips are in full bloom and will be making their way into all our Mother’s Day Bouquets. After the high tunnel tulips are finished the field grown tulips start to bloom giving us blooms through the end of May.

The last few years we have been planting seedlings out in the fall and insulating them well over the winter so they can bloom earlier that our spring planted seedlings. We uncovered them this week and they are looking good and should give us blooms in early June. These are delphinium.
