Ice Fishing Season is just around the corner

Tis the season for ice! Lakes are starting to cap over and fisherman are hitting smaller lakes. Larger lakes are also mostly frozen over, but there are still some open spots. With the temps above average coming the next couple weeks, I personally would hold off with the permanent houses. Perfect time to use the Otter portable fish house.
Meanwhile, there is a lot of work to do before hitting the ice. Respooling the old line on reels is important. Many times while reeling in fish, lines will knick on the sides of the ice. Which weakens spots in sections of your line a person overlooks. Rattle reels also need some attention. Make sure the line is secure, new leaders, sharpen hooks. Tackle is organized and ready for action!
Again, we are close to the full blown ice fishing season starting. Make sure you are prepared and ready to go. Call ahead if new to an area, bait stores, resorts, local guides. Everyone will be helpful in ice conditions. If you are a local fisherman in the area, please make sure you check ice conditions as you go. Ice conditions can change daily, be careful!
