Fishing Report 4-6-21
The snow is gone and most lakes are open. Even though the gamefish season is closed, we still have lots of great opportunities to explore here! It hasn’t been this easy to move around on the lake since last fall.
Panfish are right where you left them at late ice. Although there is change coming soon, we’re not there yet so go back to where you caught them in March and they will be waiting. Small hair jigs are a favorite of mine this time of year. There’s something magical about cold water and hair that the fish cannot resist. Vertical jigging deep water or bobber fishing shallow are the two tactics that I like to use. No bait, just hair.
Rough fish like suckers and carp are often overlooked but can offer great fishing and a even better fight! Crawlers and corn are my go to baits for these fish and there’s a great video on The Outdoor Report Facebook page explaining just how to do it.
For those that are content with waiting for walleye season, this is the perfect time to go through your equipment and get ready!
There is always something biting, sometimes we just need to broaden our horizons to find them.
