Fishing Report 3-16-21
We still have ice in lakes country, although for those die hards that are still venturing out I urge you to use extreme caution. Shorelines are deteriorating fast and the main ice sheet is saturated with water. Don’t go alone abs please don’t drive vehicles anymore. On the lighter side, the fish are biting!
Panfish are moving ever shallower. So shallow in fact you might hit dirt with the auger! Drill lots of holes and let things settle for awhile. They are aggressive! Shall Tungsten and waxes are my go to.
Tullibee are going strong in the deep holes. Although there is no limit, I urge you to only keep what you want to eat and let the rest go. The old standby dropper rig is a good rig to get you started.
Pout are going strong and as I mentioned earlier, exercise restraint when harvesting these fish. They are fun and we would like to keep catching them! Big spoons and minnow chunks are a safe bet. Don’t get too far of the bottom and hold on!
Ice season isn’t over yet but please use caution when hitting the ice!
