Pelican Rapids Economic Development Director Jordan Grossman is happy to respond. She was introduced to the community at a city council meeting last year and her enthusiasm for her new role and the town are infectious. As Grossman says, “I’m excited about the next years in PR!”

Working in tandem with the director, the Economic Development Authority is a 7-person team made up of the Mayor, city council representatives and business leaders. Together this energetic and enterprising team have come up with a variety of incentives meant to encourage and increase homeownership.

First time homebuyer or building a new home? Then take advantage of offers like 2 seasons of free family membership to the city’s outdoor swimming pool as well as decreased or eliminated sewer and water utility fees for one year. City owned land in the NW area of the city that is zoned residential is available for development, possibly at low or no cost.

Those aren’t the only incentives attracting new residents to this community, home of the annual “Friendship Festival.” Qualifying buyers will be able to access property tax refunds totally up to $5,000 over 5 years. In addition, 100% of utility hook-up fees and 50% of street breakup fees are offered. Furthermore, the city is willing to install some utility lines and defer the assessment.
