BEST OF OTC: Pulled Pork
In our continuing effort to make your time in Otter Tail County as enjoyable as possible, we have compiled a list of some great places to eat. This time, we focused on pulled pork.
The City of Battle Lake is known as a great place to dine, especially during the summer months. Stella’s Bistro & Wine Bar offers casual dining in an uptown atmosphere. The menu includes pastas, pizza, fired flatbreads and delicious sandwiches. The pulled pork sandwich is a crowd favorite. The slow cooked pork is marinated in bbq sauce, topped with pepper jack and slaw, then drizzled with balsamic reduction. Savory and juicy, it is sure to please.
Backwoods BBQ in New York Mills specializes in slow smoking meat. They win over large crowds with their catering, but you can pop in for lunch or supper and feast on the freshness. This pulled pork sandwich comes with a heaping mound of tender pulled pork. Crispy coleslaw comes on the side but they recommend you add it to your sandwich for the full effect. Three kinds of homemade BBQ sauce are available to try… Backwoods Sweet BBQ, Backwoods Tangy Gold BBQ and Backwoods Smoky BBQ. We highly recommend you try the cowboy beans as well, they have just the right amount of kick.
Pelican Rapids, MN is home to a variety of flavors. The Screaming Eagle does quick-service unlike any other. They pride themselves on great service and being a 95% scratch kitchen with 90% of our food being locally sourced. They get their meats from Ditterich Family Farms in nearby Vergas, MN, then cure and smoke them in house.
The pulled pork at the Screaming Eagle is topped with a Jim Beam Black Cherry Bourbon BBQ sauce and smoked with apple, cherry and mesquite wood.
Other places worth a stop include the Cornfield Cafe near Pelican Rapids and Brew Ales & Eats in Perham, MN.
