BEST OF OTC: Breakfast
BEST OF OTC: Breakfast
It’s been called the most important meal of the day, and for good reason. There’s nothing quite like a big breakfast to start an adventure in Otter Tail Lakes Country. In our continuing effort to help you #FindYourInnerOtter, we have compiled a list of a few great places to sit down for a hearty feast. Once again, there are no winners or losers here, simply a road map to help you on your own quest to find the best in OTC.
Viking Cafe- Fergus Falls, MN-
The Viking Cafe in Fergus falls has been serving up the classic American breakfast since 1967. They open early so you can get a jump on your day. Start with a couple of eggs cooked the way you like them, add some thick bacon, golden hash browns and you should be ready to go. We also highly recommend the homemade buttermilk pancakes.
The breakfast menu includes orders like the “Vik Vuffin” Sandwich, the “Fancy Nancy”, Black Angus Ball Tip Steak & Eggs, Eggs Benedict, Biscuits and Gravy and Omelets.
If breakfast isn’t your thing, or you like to sleep in, they also offer classic diner lunch and supper. Staples like meatballs and mashed potatoes, roast beef (or roast turkey) and dressing, or burgers are sure to please.
Nootzi’s on Main, Dent, MN –
We’ve mentioned Nootzi’s before, when we were looking for the best caramel roll in Otter Tail County, and we just had to go back. This quaint and charming cafe is the perfect place to start a fall colors road trip. Located in Dent, they are only 15 minutes from Maplewood State Park which boasts some of the best foliage in the state. Like all the places on the list, it’s hard to beat the classic eggs, bacon, hash browns & toast. Or check out their full menu to find a favorite.
Betty’s Pantry, Ottertail, MN –
If the decor at Betty’s Pantry doesn’t win you over, the food surely will. Everything on the menu is good, but if you are into omelets, and willing to try something a little different, we highly recommend the “Minnesota Omelet”. This is a 2 egg omelet with fresh, homemade ground sausage, mushrooms, wild rice & Swiss cheese. It comes with toast, and we like to add fresh hash browns and bacon. Because, well, everything is better with bacon. Betty’s is also a great place for lunch as they feature some of the best from-scratch soups in the area.
