National Night Out in NYM August 1
All are welcome at 3rd annual community event!
New York Mills, MN—July 24, 2023—The public is invited to join the Cultural Center, NYM Public Library, NYM Public Works, NYM Police Department, and Roots & Wings Forest School from 4-6PM on National Night Out, Tuesday, August 1, 2023, outdoors behind the Cultural Center & Library for a variety of fun community activities!
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories, and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts, and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits, and much, much more.
The public is welcome to join us outdoors in the back parking lot shared by the Cultural Center and the NYM Public Library (weather permitting). Come and meet a Police Officer, explore some Public Works equipment, chat with Library staff and buy a used book to take home, have fun with rock painting and leaf rubbing with Roots & Wings Forest School, and enjoy a variety of games and activities for all ages.
Have an idea or want to join the fun? All are welcome! Email [email protected] or call 218-385-3339 to join us as a partner.
National Night Out is free to attend and open to all. Call 218-385-3339 with questions. We encourage neighborhoods to hold their own gatherings as well! Check out National Night Out online at https://natw.org/ for ideas and to learn more.
This activity is made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through an operating support grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
