More than 500 people attend February Festival of Health
Despite steady snowfall throughout the day, more than 500 people of all ages attended the 28th annual February Festival of Health on Saturday, Feb. 3, at M State Wadena.
This free event offered more than 70 exhibits by local businesses and organizations, including booths like car seat safety and mental health services. Each booth provided hands-on learning and an opportunity to become familiar with the many resources available to families in the community.
Wadena County representatives were in attendance to discuss substance use prevention, radon, child abuse prevention, early childhood services, healthy living, emergency management and more. Free health screenings included vision, blood pressure and blood glucose testing. The Wadena County Soil and Water Conservation District also conducted free water testing.
“People of all ages in the Wadena area look forward to attending the February Festival of Health each year,” said Amy Kern, Tri-County Health Care community engagement specialist. “It’s a great event that helps people learn about the abundant resources that are available in the community.”
Entertainment was also part of the festivities, featuring light yoga by Prenatal Yoga Instructor Pam Doebbeling, dance performances by Just for Kix, demonstrations by Mid-Minnesota Taekwondo, face painting by Beth Kern, caricatures by Doug Curtis and chair massages by M State massage therapy students.
The health fair is sponsored by Tri-County Health Care, the Tri-County Health Care Foundation and M State Wadena.
