NYM Celebrations Offer Fun For All!
Free Fun, Bargain Bowling, and Haunted Hayrides This Halloween
The City of New York Mills has much ado for youth, teens, and adults the weekend before Halloween.
First, the Cultural Center in New York Mills is hosting its annual Free Kids’ Halloween Party on Saturday, October 28 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. For the first hour only, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Impressions by Sarah Photography will be taking free Halloween photos of kids on the second floor of the Center. For the full two hours, games, snacks, and art activities tailored for children 10 and under are available. Pumpkin and cookie decorating is offered as long as supplies last. This event is free to attend and while costumes are encouraged, they’re not required. This is family friendly–adults welcome to attend with any children; children under 8 years of age must bring an adult. This event is sponsored by the New York Mills Civic & Commerce Association.
When the party at the Center is wrapped up, children of school age from Kindergarten up through 12th grade can avail themselves of discounted bowling at Mills Lanes & Lucky Strike Grill. Proprietors Dolly & Owen Tumberg are offering $2 games for all kids with free shoe rentals from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Coinciding with the Saturday festivities, but stretching across the entire weekend, the local VFW Post 3289 offers haunted trail rides at their location off of U.S. Highway 10. All ages are welcome to partake for a $10 fee, the proceeds of which benefit two local charitable organizations: The Make A Wish Foundation and the Veterans Memorial Maintenance Fund. Hot chocolate is served during the family-friendly rides. Find the trail entrance by the back garage of the VFW. The rides are offered on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Oct. 27-29 from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.
