Ice Fishing Report 02-01-21
Mid winter blues? It’s February, and it’s the time of year that can be tough for allot of anglers. The good news is that there is still a lot of fish to catch!
Eyeballs are known to be tougher in mid winter. You really need to trust your gut and grind them out this time of year. Deadsticks are critical now. Look to those classic walleye spots and find yourself the spot on the spot. If there was ever a time to sit still and wait for the fish it would be now. A plain hook and a minnow will be your best bet.
Panfish however are just starting to ramp up! Shallow weed beds will hold allot of fish from here to ice out but your going to have to hunt them down. The basin bite will start to fall away the closer we get to March. Now is the time to be aggressive and hope hop to find the active schools.
Pike are roaming in 2 main patterns. Roaming basins high in the water colum or inside weedline. Dead baits or big suckers will do the trick.
Stay safe and tight lines!
