River Fishing Report

Well I’ve officially called this ice fishing season a wrap. Lakes country is opening up quick and we’ll be launching our boats in no time.
I normally spend the month of April on the North Shore of Lake Superior guiding migratory rainbow trout in the tributaries but have temporarily put my operation on hold due to COVID-19. It’s been strange. I miss the fish. I miss my customers. I am however not letting myself miss being in the outdoors.
I’m just doing it close to home, while practicing good social distancing. I’ve taken my son on numerous, unsuccessful, shed hunting missions…and as of late we’ve been hitting the rivers in search of rough fish. We’ve hooked some suckers, quillbacks, carp, buffalo and even some catfish the past few evenings. This is some fairly straight forward shore fishing that requires very little equipment but will allow you to put your worries to rest in nature, if even only for a little while. It’s so nice to rest your shoulders of all the world’s problems and just focus your attention on catching a fish for a few hours each day.
I highly suggest grabbing some night crawlers and finding a flowing stream or lake inlet for a little rest, it’ll do you wonders. I know it has for me. Tight lines!
