Summer Fishing is Here
Summer fishing is about being mobile and willing to move and relocate to another part of the lake. Fish are the same way, especially walleye as they move from their spring spawning areas and spread out over the rest of the lake. Water temps and baitfish are two critical ingredients when trying to locate active feeding walleye. Look for them in 13-16 foot weed lines while using a rig with a 4 to 5 foot Snell, a bottom bouncer with a spinner and crawler harness, or a slow death hook. Anglers are having the most success with Northern Pike using minnows or spoons while in 10-15 foot weed lines. Bass are being taken with jigs and minnows or spinner baits. Look for them in the weeds in 8-14 foot depths. Crappies and sunfish are both in the weeds. Look for crappies to be suspended in 8-15 feet and taking crappie minnows and small jigs. For some sunfish action, try 5-8 feet while using worms or waxworms. Looking at the weekend forecast it should be a nice weekend for fishing!
