Slab Seeker Fishing Report 3-21-19

Well… I’ve got good news and bad news in regards to ice fishing in Otter Tail Lakes Country this week, which would you like first? Let’s start with the good. The warm temps have melted a decent amount of the snow pack on area lakes making travel much easier than last week. The bad news is; ice is deteriorating fast with the warm temps and March sun. On second thought, I’ll personally take both as good news.
As much as I like ice fishing the past few weeks have been brutal for an ice angler with the enemy of all things winter fun, slush. I’m ready for warm days in the Crestliner netting big panfish for smiling customers. I am personally hanging it up for the ice season. Not because you can’t find safe ice in Otter Tail Lakes Country but because I plan to head to the Lake Superior Tributaries looking for migratory rainbow trout, an annual spring tradition. If you do venture out ice fishing be safe and tight lines. The panfish should be shallow and waiting.
