Lehto & Wright concert set for March 2 in NYM
February 22, 2019
The Cultural Center in New York Mills is thrilled to present Lehto & Wright, an enthusiastic and sharp folk rock duo, on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in New York Mills.
Lehto & Wright is a MN-based Folk-Rock, Anglo-Celtic, and Progressive Rock band whose first live performance was in 1999 and has found comfort in doing so ever since. Lehto & Wright have a sound that is a sharp, bold mix of traditional and modern styles. By taking cues from the British Isles and American folk traditions and interpreting them with more modern guitar-based arrangements, Lehto & Wright have taken a unique approach to the world of Folk, Folk Rock and Progressive Rock.
This is Lehto & Wright’s second visit to the Cultural Center in NYM. The two musicians – John Wright and Steve Lehto – have worked together in many different musical environments from Indie Pop to Latin Jazz to Irish Traditional. While recording a solo album, the band discovered its shared love of electrified folk music and progressive rock along with a common admiration for bands that perform those styles so well, including Jethro Tull, Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, and King Crimson, to name a few.
“Their music challenges boundaries of the traditional Folk genre as it is molded by their diverse influences and born anew. Similar to: Jethro Tull, Richard Thompson, Fairport Convention, mixed with a bit of King Crimson.” – New Folk Booking
“…among North America’s best practitioners of Anglo-Celtic folk-rock… wonderfully intricate, powerful guitar-driven music…” – Dirty Linen
“… Lehto & Wright produce a tight, seasoned yet compact sound, offering a fresh blast of inventive folk-rock American style.” – Folk Roots
