Ottertail, MN is located in West Central Minnesota in Otter Tail County. It is 1 1/2 hours east of Fargo-Moorhead and 2 1/2 hours northwest of the Twin Cities. Ottertail is a friendly, growing community of 600+ with year-round recreational opportunities, shopping and much more! Numerous lakes are within a “stone’s throw” of the city. Two of which are actually within the city limits. Donalds Lake and Buchanan aren’t large, however they give you access to #lakelife close to town. Otter Tail Lake borders the City of Ottertail to the east. At 13,000+ acres, it is the largest of the 1,048 lakes in Otter Tail County. Long Lake, Portage Lake, Round Lake, Walker Lake and others are within 10 minutes of Ottertail. There is even a public fishing pier close to town for you to wet a line or just soak in nature.
Interestingly, the City of Ottertail is spelled as one word. Otter Tail County, Otter Tail Lake even the Otter Tail River are all multiple words. There paths for you to enjoy a stroll and parks for you to play. There are multiple lodging & dining options and some of the best shopping you can find. They even have a new pickle ball court that is open to the public. Don’t forget to bring the golf clubs as some of Minnesota’s best golfing can be found in Ottertail.
