Feed Your Inner Foodie

The somewhat sophisticated terms of gourmet, gour-mand, gastronome, and epicure have been replaced in the last several decades by the slang word “foodie.” They all mean essentially the same thing: a person who takes special interest or particular pleasure in the food that they choose to eat. This Otter Tail county community has more than its share of great restaurants for the self- proclaimed “foodie” to sample. Whatever your taste, whatever your cravings, whatever your expectations, the Battle Lake culinary community can serve it up!
The aptly-named Battle Lake Boathouse offers an extensive menu consisting of fresh, made-from-scratch dishes such as their signature pizzas, pasta, steaks, seafood, and more! The Boathouse Scampi features sautéed bay scallops, mussels, shrimp, garlic, basil, and vine-ripened tomatoes, tossed with linguine in a light white wine cream sauce.
The Rusty Nail Burger & Beer Bar offers an appetizer called Walleye Cakes. The hand-patted freshwater walleye is drizzled with wasabi aioli and napa cabbage slaw tossed in a peanut vinaigrette. It makes you wonder about the rest of the menu, doesn’t it?
Shoreline Burger & Bowl offers a great view of the lake. Their West Battler Burger features a grilled burger topped with house-smoked walleye, cream cheese, artichokes, and spinach. There’s also pecan- crusted walleye topped with brown sugar and garlic butter, or bison meatloaf, which comes with garlic mashed potatoes, brown onion gravy and sautéed vegetables.
The award-winning Stella’s Bistro & Wine Bar offers Italian, American, and vegan op-tions. The Almond Crusted Duck Strips are hand-battered and rolled in almonds with cranberry raspberry horseradish sauce.
