DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special creative printmaking workshop led by local artist Annalee Beaver on Saturday\, February 28\, 2026\, from 10 AM – 3 PM. \nThis workshop is for any experience level and ability—ages 12 and up. In this class\, we will create a line-based design that will be transferred onto a Tetra Pak (a recycled\, multi-layered carton commonly used for beverages like milk or juice). \nThe design will then be printed onto mixed-media paper using a printing press. Participants are encouraged to bring their own inspiration or choose from a variety of original nature photographs provided by the class director. \nThis class will cover the full process of printmaking\, from initial design through a finished print. They are a cross between a cross-country ski and a snowshoe. They glide downhill and grip the snow going uphill. \nBring your equipment or use the snowshoes and ski shoes provided at PWLC. DESCRIPTION:Come enjoy an evening in the park by candlelight and moonlight. Hike\, snowshoe\, or ski the 1-mile trail around Cataract Lake where you will be guided by the almost full moon\, and lanterns. The 1.5-mile Hallaway Hill trail will also be illuminated for hikers and snowshoers. Once you have trekked to your hearts content\, come warm up by the campfire or enjoy chili and desserts and refreshments in the Trail Center or Picnic Shelter. All provided by the Friends of Maplewood. \nThere is no cost for this event\, but a Minnesota state parks vehicle permit is required to enter the park ($7/day or $35/year).

DESCRIPTION:Discover the powerful stories hidden inside your photographs in this intimate\, two-part\, in-person writing workshop with Artist-in-Residence Chris Marcotte. \nFinding Your Story invites participants to explore memory\, imagination\, and craft as they write a memoir or short story inspired by a personal photo from any time period. \nDesigned for writers of all experience levels\, this workshop offers guided exercises\, individualized feedback\, and a supportive community in which to draft\, revise\, and share a complete piece of writing. The small group setting allows for thoughtful discussion and one-on-one constructive feedback—making this a rich and rewarding experience for every participant. \nParticipants will leave with a polished memoir or short story (500–1500 words) and a deeper understanding of how images can unlock meaningful narratives. For inspiration\, the facilitator will also share a recently selected short story written from a photograph and published in an online anthology.
