Cultural Center Hosts Afternoon of Fun
The Cultural Center rounds out an eclectic spring performance season with events at two locations in New York Mills on Saturday, April 21.
Climb Theatre, with the support of the Cultural Center and Backwoods BBQ, offers an afternoon of fun for the whole family! Starting with Bingo at Backwoods from 2 to 4 p.m., the afternoon finishes with a play performance at the Cultural Center at 4:15 p.m.
Food and drinks are available to buy from Backwoods during bingo. Prizes for the games will include art pieces by local artists and artisans and cash prizes. Games, activities, and prizes for children will also be available at Backwoods from 2 to 4 p.m. Please arrive promptly to get your bingo packages. Bring the whole family for an afternoon of fun!
Following Bingo, at 4:15 p.m. is a Humans of Minnesota performance in the intimate venue of the Cultural Center, just a block away from Backwoods BBQ.
Humans of Minnesota is a project of Climb Theatre of Minneapolis. In the Spring of 2017, Climb Theatre artists interviewed people in Otter Tail County over a two week period and have since created this performance from those interviews. Climb has created three other such events around the state. These events are supported by a Minnesota State Arts Board Arts Tour Grant and are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through the Land and Legacy Amendment.
Entrance to the show is pay-as-you’re-able. Feel free to come for free!

The Cultural Center in New York Mills is a rural hub for creativity, community vitality, and lifelong learning in the arts. We offer visitors intimate opportunities to encounter art and artists in our 80-seat concert listening room, two galleries in a historic building, a gift store featuring local artists, an artist residency program, a sculpture park, and a variety of opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive. Since our incorporation in 1990, we have been passionate about connecting people to artists and rich cultural experiences in rural Minnesota, celebrating the local and being a window to the world.
