A Welcome Change in Otter Tail Lakes Country
Tight lines! Randin Olson Lockjaw Guide Service 218-640-0158
The air may be cooling off and the trees may be changing color, but the fishing is hot! Otter Tail Lakes Country is turning the page to fall and now is the best time of year to put some fish on the table!
Panfish action is split right now. With some fish moving to mud basin areas, and some staying in the weeds. There are multiple ways to chase panfish. Two of my favorites are trolling Northland Thumper jigs through the cabbage, or pulling a three way rig and small crankbait in the basin.
Eyeballs are transitioning into predictable fall patterns. Steep breaks, saddles, and points are all holding fish. Bottom bouncer and spinner rigs are my go to presentation to cover water. Once I find a good school, I’ll slow down and either jig or throw a Puppet minnow.
Musky fishing is hot and only going to get hotter! Alot of fish are moving back into the shallow weeds which means it’s time for bucktails and topwaters. Cover water and make sure to watch your majors and minors.
Don’t put the boat away yet, some of the best fishing is still too come! If you’d like to learn any of the techniques listed above, give me a call and we will get you on the water!
